Academy Develops Practice Standards for the Management of the Home Care Patient with Community-Acquired Pneumonia

The clinical practice guidelines that follow were created by the American Academy of Home Care Physicians to help physicians in caring for patients with community-acquired pneumonia. These guidelines were produced by a team that included consulting pharmacists and an expert physician panel of home care physicians from several specialties selected by the Academy.

We apologize that clinicians and others may have questions and we have tried to anticipate these, providing answers in the guidelines.

The Academy is pleased to provide this resource to the clinical practice community and we hope that it is useful. We acknowledge and appreciate the support of Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, the makers of LevaquinŽ, in this project. I also wish to thank my Academy expert panel colleagues for their wisdom and guidance.
